Yep - and I imagine my ISP wouldn't be too happy about me broadcasting to his
machines - although broadcast messages are probably the *first* things that
get dumped.

I think I'm all set now.  Getting rid of 'dummy0' and choosing the
broadcast address to suit *which* subnet I want to send to (192.168.0.255)
seems to have been enough to fix everything.

Thanks for your help.

I'm working on Saturday mornings for the near future - so I won't
be making it to the meeting  :-(
