I have a company issued notebook which I am not supposed
install any booter to the mbr. I find the combination of
simple DOS batch files + loadlin + a "LINUX.PIF" file
allows me to select either Win98 or linux either at startup
(menuitem called by autoexec.bat) or while running Win98.
A PIF icon on my desktop shuts Windows down to DOS mode and
runs a batchfile which calls loadlin to bootstrap a kernel
like C:\boot\vmlinuz.
