Hi Kevin,
Yeah, bad Web authoring practices abound, and I think have since the
beginnings of the Web. (I won't even get into that, but suffice to say that
enough people have not grasped the really cool thought process behind HTML,
I.E. use tags to denote a function, such as emphasis, title, etc., rather
than hard-coded formatting, where possible, doing things like using tables
for non-tabular data in order to make something "look right", that the Web
can be extremely annoying. And don't even get me started on HTML Email. But
anyway, I agree that lynx, or some other text-based browser, *should*
support Javascript insofar as they can, if for no other reason than that
people are designing pages with it, for good or for ill. Hell, if I knew
anything about programming and could figure out a way to do the thing, I'd
work on it, but I'm a programming moron. (I'll learn though.) Thanks also
for some of the thought processes on using Javascript; also thanks to
Jeremy. Heh, I should really start cracking that C book if for no other
reason than to contribute something useful to text-based Web browsing and
stop bitchin. :)
Yay Gnu!
