I have Debian now and like it quite a bit. I'm still not quite used to the
whole having to modify one file and run a script to modify what you really
wanted to in the first place, but I think I understand the reasoning
behind it. I must say I think the install and packaging system's pretty
damned slick, especially on a high speed connection. ... Course, things
that don't install by default and caused trouble until I installed them
afterwards...that was a little annoying, but only a little. (For instance,
some of the ncurses packages, and bin86...) But really, having an OS that
will talk rom install to shutdown with Speakup patched into the kernel
(see www.linux-speakup.org) is really great. Don't know of another OS that
can do that. Course, Slackware, which I was using before, was pretty cool
too--I have a lot that i like about Slackware as well, and it also has a
Speakup-enabled install available. But yeah, going through the Debian
install and setting it up the way I wanted it the first time did take a
couple days...especially since I was sorta playing it by ear (no pun
intended...really)
