let me clarify...;)
X runs fine as any user, root or me
the error msg appears in the VC, but X continues running
I am not describing a problem with X running
just a strange error I can't figure out
<ctrl>+<atl>+<f1> = VC full of "cant open /etc/hosts..."
<alt>+<f7> = normal X session
