first guess is that you didn't use MD5 hash's the first time and it
expects it now... are you trying to change the passwords as root, or as
the user? Also, look at the /etc/shadow and see if the passwds start
with a $1$
if so, they are md5 hashes... not sure beyond that, and more info...
I would recomend not using Linuxconf as it has been known to cause
problems and corupt files...
