The most common hardware error with installing a second IDE drive is failing
to realise that one drive has to be master and the other slave...generally,
you have to change one of the drive's jumpers to make this work.
Once in a blue moon, you come across two kinds of drive that won't play ball
with each other - switching which is master and which slave sometimes fixes
that - but this can be inconvenient. Fortunately, this is pretty rare.
YAST certainly works for adding a second drive under both SuSE 6.4 and 7.0
but it's been a while since I played with 6.3...I doubt there is a problem,
YAST doesn't seem to change much from one release to another.
