try "ifconfig -a" to see status of NICs.
"man ifconfig" to see how to use ifconfig.
You should be able to manually config your NICs using ifconfig.
Once you get that working you can then edit your configuration files appropriately.
What distribution and version are you using? Redhat?
BTW, It's not "linux ver 7" but rather Redhat 7.0 distribution of Linux.
Redhat =! Linux. Redhat is just one of many distributions of Linux.
