[NTLUG:Discuss] the fax getty

You can use g32pbm to convert the g3 file to a pbm file, then use
convert to convert the pbm file to a bmp file that Windows apps and
email clients can open.
I'm running mgetty myself. I'm not sure how it compares to your
getty. The format of the email message yours sent is basically the
same as mine, but the format of the file name is different.
The version of mgetty that I am running (1.1.22-2mdk) supports
executing a new_fax script when a fax is received. On my system this
script resides in /etc/mgetty+sendfax. You can use this script to
convert the file format, email it, print it, etc. On my system a
number of alternative new_fax implementations reside in
/usr/doc/mgetty-1.1.22/samples, with the one in the new_fax.all
directory looking like the most capable and general implementation to
me.
