I can't say that they are all that friendly. I called up the SprintION
Representative to get answers to my similiar
questions since I was also looking for a possible way to get fast
Internet Service. The answers I got where:

1. No, They don't support Linux.
2. Servers are strictly forbidden.

After much prodding, I finally found out that Sprint ION runs pretty
much the same cable protocols like AT&T
Broadband, and, like cable, it is a 'shared' service (ie - Running a
server that could be popular, for example an http
server, ftp server, or game server) can and will degrade everyone else's
service, therefore, servers are not tolerated.

Myself, I am still waiting for DSL where I can run what I want without
sharing the bandwidth with my neighbors
(wireless or not).

BTW: I happen to like Slashdot. The editorial content may be
questionable, but at least they do put links straight
to the articles they're referring too. Reading them along with
Linuxtoday and others certainly give a better balanced
view in my opinion than a lot of people who continually quote the
Ziff-Davis (MS biased) publications.

Regards....
