As far as performance goes, ipchains will do since you're not talking
about
hooking up more than 50 hosts.  If you do decide to move to 2.4 you will
have some additional flexibility with regards to routing.

If you're just trying to get two computers onto the Internet, I'd stick
with ipchains and let the dust settle abit on 2.4 (e.g. let a couple of
revs come out on 2.4).  However, if it's not for critical work and you
just
love messing around with things.... go for 2.4 today.
