[NTLUG:Discuss] @home on a LINUX system -- computer identity?

I haven't had that problem - they set up my connection on a Windows machine
which they renamed to fit their scheme. I promptly renamed it, and it
didn't change the connection at all.

When I migrated the cable modem over to the linux box, I never did change
its name, and had no problems.

It could be different in my case, because I'm with Charter instead of AT&T.
They also gave me a static IP (I didn't even have to ask for it).
