Well, no one mentioned www.linuxtelephony.org, which seems to be a comprehensive
but slow site. Looks like http://www.openh323.org/ and SpeakFreely have cross
platform clients . Of course, the inevitable Ask Slashdot:

Thanks for the link. Probably a phone card is required for the internet to
phone gateway at the other end. For the person placing a call through
internet a soundcard and internet line should be enough. Is there any
client to do this in Linux (note that this client has to operate with an
operational internet-phone gateway most of which run Linux but accept
connections only from Windows clients). Is there any such gateway offering
services which cover the Dallas area? (if not I'll seriously think of
setting up a h.323 gateway myself)
