I did because of $$$....Few hundred vs. $ 0

Yes. And its actually very good.  Every once in a while, you get 
something that doesn't quite convert, but nothing that wasn't fixed in 
30sec or less...

None to very little.  Learning curve is exteremly small. If you can use 
MS Office, you can use StarOffice.
