For Quicken, GnuCash is becoming an increasingly capable alternative.
And I have to point out the alternative to the Dancing PaperClip, an
"assistant" to VI known as "VIGOR" (pronounced with the same accenting
as the name of Dr. Frankenstein's assistant, Igor):
