You may have to get out your checkbook and contact one of the data recovery 
firms. The most famous is Ontrack, www.ontrack.com.

If your drive has malfunctioned in its electrical or mechanical operation, 
that may be your only recourse. Be prepared, in that event. not to be too 
happy with the cost of recovering any meaningful data from such a drive.
