[NTLUG:Discuss] setting up a web-hosting company

There is a wide variety of credit card processors out there. Several are
quite versed in servicing Web merchants.

Generally, those who accept Web businesses seem to have a requirement that
you have an established business address, and that you have the personal
credit-worthiness to be able to make worthwhile personal guaranties.

Also, there are specific requirements for Web businesses that include
generally higher discount fees and the methods by which you can accept cards.

It isn't impossible (unless things have changed radically in the three
years since I was briefly involved in the business), but it is expensive.

Chris' comments about the difficulty of setting up a hardware business as a
credit-card accepting merchant were mostly correct. Because the money
involved in many orders can be substantial, and because he does not seem to
be planning a physical business location, it can be a challenge indeed.
