[NTLUG:Discuss] can not ping itself.

I have 2 NICs in my Linux box (RH 6.2)
one (eth1) of them works fine, the other (eth0) can not ping itself.
for example, this card is assigned a public ip 65.10.71.194, and I type

ping 65.10.71.194

it just stay there, nothing happened but the HardDrive _seems_ doing ping 
work because there is a noise came from the HD.

I can ping to my friend's ip (public ip), but very slow.

check with ifconfig, eth0, eth1  look ok.

please help.
