Yep - 'Titanic' had all of it's ocean rendering done on 50 Alpha's
running Linux (although the ship itself and the virtual 'extras' were done
on SGI machines) - and the guy who put that Alpha system together was Daryll Strauss
who (not entirely coincidentally) was the guy who got the first 3D graphics
cards working under Linux - Daryll now (IIRC) works for V.A.Linux doing work
on the Mesa/DRI integration with Xfree.

You can see that the spin-offs from these kinds of commercial exploitation
of Linux are a good part of the driving force in OpenSource.

Now - if only I could afford the price of a copy of Maya for Linux.
