Subject: CTC IEEE SP/COM Society Meeting - NEW MEMBERS ARE WELCOME
Greetings!
The Central Texas Chapter of the IEEE Signal Processing/Communications
Society invites you to attend our monthly meetings and presentations.
NEW MEMBERS ARE WELCOME
This month the chapter is inviting all new society members and people
interested in joining the society to attend the meeting. We have an
exciting presentation planned by Chris Pettey, CTO of Banderacom, about the
new InfiniBand communication standard.
CURRENT MEETING
DATE June 21, 2001 6:30 PM
LOCATION SBC Technology Resources, Inc. (SBC-TRI)
9505 Arboretum Blvd, Austin, Texas
TOPIC InfiniBand
SPEAKER Chris Pettey, Co-founder & CTO of Banderacom
Prior to founding Banderacom, Chris was a SMTS for Jato
Technologies, a fabless semiconductor startup developing Gigabit
Ethernet controller silicon. Formerly a SMTS for Compaq
Enterprise Computing Division, Chris has been involved in the
development of many large scale networking and server
architecture platforms. He holds 9 patents, including joint
holding of the Registered Bus Protocol patent, key to the PCI-X
specification.
ABSTRACT InfiniBand is a next generation communication standard optimized
for distributed I/O systems. InfiniBand utilizes a transport
protocol designed to externalize the semantics of an operating
system. This presentation will describe the InfiniBand
architecture and the requirements of a distributed I/O system.
This presentation will further discuss the aspects of the
InfiniBand transport and the aspects of that transport that make
it especially suited for hardware acceleration.
********* The presentation is open to chapter members and non-members.
********* Free food and beverages will be served to attendees.
RSVP If you plan to attend, please send e-mail to Howard Headrick
at hfrjr at swbell.net for planning purposes.
UPCOMING MEETINGS
In July, Michael Hathaway of Austin Ventures will give a presentation on
"Network Processors."
In August, the chapter will meet at Surgient Networks, and the company will
give a presentation on their network content delivery technology.
MONTHLY MEETING NOTICE
The Chapter meets on the 3rd Thursday of each month at 6:30 PM at SBC
Technology Resources, Inc. (SBC-TRI) located at 9505 Arboretum Blvd in
Austin, Texas. Please feel free to post meeting notices and invite guests.
