What's the password for services (it's the webserver's account

In this case (which I've tried), the ownership of the file
remains the original user's, and the webserver doesn't want to
serve up files not owned by www. Files can be edited and saved
and chmoded that way, but the webserver only wants to serve
files owned by www.
