I have a GPL version of Mandrake 8.1 (IIRC), running Reiser FS for / and
for 2 other partitions, labelled /extra and /extra2. / is appx. 20 G
(IIRC), and the 2 /extra partitions are appx 16 G each; the entire HDD
was a Western Digital 60 G HDD, and good ol' Linux partitioned the whole
thing effortlessly. AFAIK, it all works well, and am able to read/ write
to the 2 /extra partitions OK.

Of course, this assumes your BIOS handles the monster-size HDD OK; my
BIOS does not, but Linux (and, to give the Devil his due, Win2K),
**seem** to handle the big HDD OK, although I am still somewhat holding
my breath; it's been 6 weeks or so... (If you're wondering, Win2k boots
on another smaller HDD, as does Linux have a /boot partition on the
smaller one; then, it goes ahead with the huge HDD for / ).
