Real Life Adventure:
I started life (on UNIX) learning just a few simple vi commands -
literally just enough to get by, as I needed to write some scripts "now"
and didn't have time to "learn it all".
Later in life, I took a UNIX course in which were taught ed, vi, and
vi's other side: ex.
What I have found to be pretty much true is that these editors can be
counted on to be to be there on UNIX and Linux systems, and they can be
pretty much counted on to be "bug for bug" compatible from system to
system.
That is worth a lot to me.
