I think mcedit is the closest to DOS edit. It is part of the Midnight
Commander. Use rpm -q mc to see if you have it installed. Use F9 to open
the menu in mcedit. If you run mc you can put the highlight on a filename
and press F4 to edit the file. Otherwise just run mcedit <file>.

Subject: [NTLUG:Discuss] Terminal Text Editor Question

Does anyone know of a text editor that is similar in layout and function to
the old MS-EDIT editor? I have been in the MS command line enviorment since
DOS 3.3 and am looking for something to ease into linux with.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Alex Thomas
