[NTLUG:Discuss] Linux Terminal server

I had a p-133 with about 8 MB of ram, practically useless without upgrades.
Yes, there are other things to do with it, but I couldnt think of anything
I needed it for. Some may call it a X-Terminal, but like someone else
mentioned, the ltsp doesnt use that nomenclature. This computer also runs
mgetty on a serial port for a regular terminal login through modem.

As for it's iner-workings, it is just a kernel on a disk. It loads all the
rest of its workings from the server. The method I used may be rather
limited, since I dont know if it could handle a second, or more X-terminal
without alot of re-working.

Followed directions at:
http://www.linuxgazette.com/issue68/swieskowski.html
Only problem I had was I tried to stay with the same kernel my server would
be using. 2.2.19 didnt work, but I found that it doesnt matter. X-Term uses
2.4.3 without a problem. Just need a sound card, and better monitor
(800x600 really sucks) and you wouldnt know you were on a terminal. Unless
you tried a real-time game. Heheh. Maybie if I upgraded network to 100 mb
cards.
It is very quiet, like the article says. You could have it near your bed,
without disturbing sleep.
