Most 10/100 'switches' are not really ethernet switches. They
may say switch, but they are really hubs. If it says that it is
capable of full duplex ( 200mbit ) then it's a ( as I understand
it ) true switch.
Linksys makes two identical looking 5 port 10/100 devices. One is
a switch ( capable of full duplex on all ports ) and one is a hub.
The switch is generally more expensive than the hub. I did get the
switch version at bestbuy when it was on sale for $39.99 a while
back.
