[NTLUG:Discuss] How I Got An HP OfficeJet G55 Working In Mandrake 8.0

I have a DeskJet 855C. There are two ghostscript drivers
available for it (the Gimp print thing really does not work
well except for Epson printers).

I tried the drivers from HP on it. Wow! Definitely produced
some of the best color photo printouts I've seen in a long
time. However, the driver has numerous bugs.... so I'm back
to using the ghostscript ones.

As soon as HP REALLY gets serious about supporting Linux, maybe
I'll give it another shot. Right now, HP is basically just
trying to ride the Linux wave.... they could care less about
Linux apart from that.

(I don't care who is now working there... unless a pro-Linux
person becomes their new CEO, I really don't think things will
change there... unless they decide to kill off their old,
ancient HPUX OS.)

I'm glad that HP is trying to ride the Linux wave.... just
waiting to see them treat it seriously.

My two cents,
Chris
