[NTLUG:Discuss] Local mail problem

You are setting up a mail server in your small network, and you want the other
several computers to be able to pop their mail from your mail server. Is this
part working yet?

You could use pop instead of the local mbox to talk to your local machine.

It sounds as though netscape or evolution put down a lock file, and forgive me
if I am wrong. I have not delt with local mail in a while. There should be a
file in you /var/spool/mail folder that you should delete in order to get you
local spool mail working again. If this path is not correct. The error that
you were talking about might be able to get you closer to the path that you
want to be looking at. This lock is just a mediator between the plethora of
mail clients that could be reading this file. If you are sure that none of
the mail clients it is safe to delete this.

not to complicate your situation, but I have also seen stale lock files from
the pop servers if there is not enough free space in /var/spool/mail.

Anyway, probably too much info, weed through it if you need, and let us know
what happens.
