Oh, my mistake.  I'd assumed you were dealing with X, rather than the
character terminals.  Sorry 'bout that.

I'm afraid I can't help you there.  I suspect it can be done, but I don't
happen to know how.  I wouldn't even know where to start looking, since I
use X for 99% of the stuff I do in Linux.

This may be a long shot, but you might actually want to take a look at some
of the LILO options---I do know that LILO allows you to configure your
system to start up with 50 lines of text to a screen, rather than the
default 25.  It may also have settings for colors and so forth.

Bit annoying to have to reboot to change these, though.  There's got to be
a better way than this.
