There should be several solutions out there for you and I'm surprised I haven't seen a few mentioned.  If your hardcore the best way to do this would be to pipe the display from your Linux machine to your winx machine.  You will need software that understands the x protocol like Omni-X or Hummingbird http://www.hummingbird.com/ (search on these on google for the sites).  If you would like to have a full x display rolling that you can disconnect from and use the full x environment on your desktop you might also look into my personal favorite VNC at http://www.uk.research.att.com/vnc/download.html. There you will find a Linux client/server and a windows client/server.  This product works very well if your on a local network connection and can be made to work relatively well over a low speed connection.  These two approaches will give you what your looking for.  The first being what you would have done with the SGI to SGI session the exception being they natively understood the x protocol.

We are a household in the process of converting to Linux - about 50% 
done by most counts, but at our speed that can still be measured in years.

I just bought the Linux version of a well known graphics package, but it 
would be good if one could access and run it using a Windows 95 
"terminal", at least for now - it would just make life so much easier 
right now.

I have never done anything like this before except on SGI, and that was 
SGI to SGI.

Can it be done?
If so, how?
What boogers am I looking at?
Any clues?
