[NTLUG:Discuss] Bad Signs for Open Source

I think the responses to this announcement are rather puzzling if you have
read the announcement cited.

Yahoo is taking on Novell directory services for their contract corporate
portal service offerings.

Not Microsoft.

Not directX.

Not the part of Yahoo you use if you have Yahoo-based email and such.

So where's the problem? Frankly, Novell probably has a very good product by
now in their directory services software--which, as the article also
explained, supports LDAP.

So, if you are in one of the large corporations contracting with Yahoo for
their corporate portal services, you will see a change of services that
actually may improve your service.

So--where's the problem? Or am I missing something?

David
