At first I thought it was a clean up processes. Looking for idle taskes and
cleaning up after them. but rather now I bet it is the Kernel option to
insert halt commands in idle cycles. It may not be HALT, But the command it
runs, actually turns the processor off when it is in an adle loop. makes a
big difference when you have a hot processor. When I was in Win9x a lot, I
used to run a utility that would insert
this command, made a world of
difference in my heat output.
