Just a couple of gottcha's.

Network Solutions now automatically sets you up with their hosting and
DNS service unless you choose otherwise. I would first decide who is
going host your DNS. Granitecanyon has been mentioned as one choice. Set
up a zone file (DNS listing) with the selected service. Some are free
some charge a small fee. I think that is your missing piece. The DNS
listing is not your IP address. It tells the world where to go to find
your IP address.
