I don't know the answer to these questions. I would like to have some
solution in place to make sure I can keep the two phone numbers I've had for
a couple years now. Sprint was able to transition them away from SBC; I have
no idea if SBC will take them back.

Mine was two years, and I'm about two months in. Sprint has promised that
they'll compensate me for their failure, so I'm sitting tight and seeing what
they'll offer.
At this point, I'm looking toward an old stand-by dfw.net (now
nationwide.net) for the solution to my DSL problem. They charge a $300
setup fee for the service that I want, and I'm going to be expecting Sprint
to pay every penny of it, as well as any other costs associated with they're
dumping me.
