[NTLUG:Discuss] Mandrake Problems??

Good Afternoon,
This is just a question out of curiosity more than anything...
I have Mandrake 8.1 installed on my machine. I have noticed that I have
a few problems installing packages on it. For instance, I was trying to
install Vmware onto my machine, but the Kernel version(2.4-26) did not
match the kernel-header version(2.4-34).. I would like to go to a LINUX
only environment, but I need some of my winblows apps too(i.e. Flash 5,
UltraDev 4). Is there a distro where you have had very few problems
installing progs after the fact?? I hear of Suse being mentioned often,
and RedHat for the most part. I am in need of Reformatting my drives
anyway, so I will probably start with a clean disk. The current
partition setup is totally inadequate for my LINUX needs(12 GB for Win,
3.2GB for Linux!)

Thank You,
Matt Caldwell
