I dropped mine and the screen went AWOL. It had been a week since I sync'ed and
I
wanted to capture the delta since the last sync. It worked find just using the
Hot
Sync button on the cradle. As long as it's just the screen that's bad you
should be
able to backup the data and application with no problem.
