what happpen to my box is that If I don't use my internal network for a
while,
then nobody from outside of the word can conncet to my server, even ping to
the box, the server is kind of 'dead'.
but if I physically go back to 'use' the box (any kind of use, edit a file,
telnet to some where...), the server become alive, all the servers works
fine.
I thought the NIC is bad, the something wrong on firewall rules,
or the kernel is not stable (just upgrated the kernel to 2.4.14).
after check all of then:
replace new NIC, recompiled kernel, disable APM on BIOS, no run X winow, no
dmps package installed. the problem still exist. (all servers are no
working)
the problem seems solved: (I don't think this is the right soluation)
I used to blocke some (4) ips 24.242.8.? (and others, don't those with me
now, At&t's noise signal? attack port 69) and now I un-block these ips the
problem is no longer exist. all my server works fine. but my log file will
filled with a lot of repeat junk messages. my hard drive will very busy, it
write these repeated junk message every couple of minutes.
