Ick!  My SWbell "SpeedStream" modem has a standard 10baseT
connector - and it actually came with an Ethernet card that
is Linux-supported.

Did you *have* to get a USB version?  Maybe the Ethernet
version only comes with the 'Enhanced' service option.

I agree though that your chances of getting it working
via USB are *MUCH* reduced....USB support in Linux is
still rather new and this seems like a pretty odd-ball
application of it.

You really *need* a 10baseT interface if you want to connect
up multiple computers with a router - which is the (stupid)
configuration that SWbell recommended to support multiple
PC's on one DSL line.  I didn't do it that way because I
wanted a firewall - but it should at least be possible.
