[NTLUG:Discuss] djbdns lookup tools - can't lookup against different server

  host
  dig

  change /etc/resolv.conf to the ip address of the server you want to
query, then

  ping -n  hostname.

  it will use the server you have in /etc/resolv.conf and give you the
address of hostname.  Do a control-c to stop it.

  A weird way to do it, but it works.
