Running RedHat 7.2

For no apparent reason, ftp is taking a long time to authenticate. The
initial connect speed is fine. This problem just started. We are on a
local network, so any "traffic" shouldn't be an issue. Once connected, file
transfer speed is correct.

This problem occurs whether using command line ftp, gftp, or Fetch (on mac
platforms.)

I ran "top" to see if there is any load on the cpu, and there is no load.
Drive space is fine, there is no swapping going on. I turned telnet on, at
it seems to be slow as well. (I run with telnet, rlogin etc off.) Ssh
connects normally.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Monty
