[NTLUG:Discuss] ReiserFS and the bootable /boot partition.

(Slackware 8 - new install on AMD/750 from Gateway with a Promise (SCSI) IDE
controller with a 40 Gig drive.)

I remember reading somewhere that there might be some concerns having a
ReiserFS partition as the bootable partition...or the root partition. Is
this true?

I typically make a 30 meg /boot partition as my first partition (/dev/hdx1)
to avoid any >1024 cyl errors. If one uses the ReiserFS exclusively, will
there be issues down the road? ( know that Slack 8 users have to 'patch'
the kernal sources and recompile if ReiserFS is to be used.)

And should I remove the Promise controller from the system and just use the
onboard IDE?
