i am not sure but try this.......
"/etc/rc.d/init.d/ppp0 stop"
this should stop the service.
if you want a graphical interface try the command "setup" and then goto
services section.

Subject: [NTLUG:Discuss] Hosed up my system
In the process of trying to get my dial up connection going, I enabled
somewhere for ppp0 to start on boot up and it don't, it just hangs. I know
how to boot off the CD and go to the rescue screen to fix the problem, but I
don't know where to go to disable this in startup. Can anyone point me in
the right direction please? Running RedHat 7.2 thanks.
