[NTLUG:Discuss] fdisk

I have a hard drive that has been at least partially corrupted
and am attempting to recover as much of it as possible. To start
with, the partition type of the one-and-only partition on the drive
has been set to 0x44. Both fdisk & partition magic say that type
44 is unknown. What I *think* I'd like to do is to the "t" option
of fdisk ( t change a partition's system id) to re-set the type to
its correct value. In this case the proper type should be "c"

Does anyone know if fdisk will change anything else on the drive that
would corrupt more of the data if I try this?

TIA,

George
