Other than using a "backup" style.... e.g. tar, cpio or other.....

If the devices are identical (same hard drive geometry), then you can use
dd (device-to-device copy).

This is a frequently asked question, you can search Google (or your 
favorite)
for answers (which will include the dd one I just mentioned).
