[NTLUG:Discuss] dhcpd just unloads itself!

OK. I've googled..and group-googled (I even altavista'ed) and couldn't find
any clue as to why the dhcpd daemon unloads itself when a dhcp client
requests an address. The log file shows that the procedure is getting
through the DHCPDISCOVER, DHCPOFFER, DHCPREQUEST, and DHCPACK steps ok, but
the client never received the IP address and afterwards a 'ps -auxw | grep
dhcp' reveals that the dhcpd daemon is no longer running. Just as quickly as
requests are made to 'dhcpd' the daemon will unload.
I finally just rebooted the box and everything seems to be working ok, but
that is not the FIRST time the DHCP server has gone flakey.
Any words of wisdom? Has DJ Bernstein come up with a better DHCP server?
