[snip the passionate arguments]
I can tell you that Linux is becoming easier and easier to implement at MY
customer sites. The biggest factor helping me implement Linux based
solutions is none other that the latest OS offering by Microsoft... Windows
5.1 (XP) Just today, three top executives at a particular firm made the
decision to return a JUST PURCHASED Windows XP loaded laptop. It seems that
XP's lack of security and is perceived unreliability is overriding the
'popular' consensus.
With that mentality so prevalent at that particular company the options they
are now considering are to
Replace their VERY old version of NetWare with a Linux / SAMBA(w/PDC) server
*rather* than upgrading to a NetWare 6 or Win2K server.
Implementing Citrix on the server with 'dumb' terminals running who cares
what OS (Linux) at the desk *rather* than spending money upgrading
everyone's workstations.
All this rambling to say what? Take heart. Microsoft is not necessarily
considered the end-all be-all solution "just because". I find more and more
that products are being weighed on their own merit. Certainly the plethora
of MSIE/Outlook(Express) worm and viri have taken their toll on my
customer's image of Microsoft products, but Microsoft products still have
their place. I'm am, however, finding fewer and fewer places for them.

[shameless off topic piggybacked request for a solution]
So the customer is not too thrilled about giving up their virtuously virus
resistant GroupWise email client for the certain danger that is
Outlook(express). Eudora and Pegasus seem to have their issues too. I
can't very well se them using SQWebmail 100% of the time either.....so what
Win32 IMAP EMail client exists out there that is secure and stable?
