You could try Netscape Messenger; it understands both POP and IMAP.  It also 
doesn't seem to understand all the Outlook type virii out there. :-)  And it 
has the added bonus in that if you convince them to move to Linux on the 
desktop, there's a version there for that too, so they'll feel more at home. :-)
