Neil,

You'll find write-ups on this issue in the sendmail and bind Howtos as 
well as the BIND and DNS and sendmail books.  Several things can cause 
this.  Check your hosts file to make sure you don't have the wrong IP 
assigned there.  Also rebuild your NIS maps if your using NIS. 
Sometimes sendmail will choke on an address if your using a CNAME for 
your mail server, use an A record instead.  Also make sure your sendmail 
config has the correct masquerade and domains configured.

This may start a religous war but, IMHO, there isn't anything wrong with 
BIND or sendmail.  They're both good products if they're configured 
correctly.  I also use webmin to configure both and (other than setting 
the directory in named.conf) I don't have any complaints.
