If you are using ATTBI, it is a dynamic IP address, but
it is cached on their end, and tied to your mac
address. This weekend I switched hard drives on 2
boxes, both linux, and both on the attbi network. The
physical boxes kept the IP address they always had. Now
you switch the network interface used to connect to
attbi, and the IP follows the card. Take out your linux
box nic, and put the windows box nic in your linux box.
Your linux box will get the 12.237 address, put your
current linux box nic in the windows box, and your
windows box will get a 12.255.172 address.
