[NTLUG:Discuss] I got this offer

Such sterling examples as Enron, while perhaps a litmus of current
conditions, are none the less negative indicators. It doesn't take a
person of very much moral fiber to find her/himself as a shinning star
compared to them. While I (a) have no interest in MS, and (b) wouldn't
acquire my software in this manner, I also wouldn't (a) stop someone
else from doing so, or (b) be surprised if having done so they got stung.

I showed the letter around work and was surprised at the fact that more
than one person thought it might be a good way for them to get some
cheap software. And here I was, slow as ever, still puzzling over the
fact that our email filtering corporation had let this piece of obvious
spam through in the first place.

Oh, well.

I do want to apologize to anyone who may have been offended by the
introduction of the subject on this list, and thank the respondents for
their thoughtful replies.
